Gaming Banter, Reviews

Hi all,

I’ve been off the PS3 for a while now due to me being hooked on these free to play browser based games on the computer.  I know this doesn’t sound like me and I haven’t given up completely playing the PS 3 as I have great games on there that i’m still wanting to play.  I did think however, that these browser based games were worth mentioning because they are great fun and most have a great community of players that are willing to help out.

The game i’m playing at the moment is called Stormfall. It’s a little like a conquest/conquer game, you build your castle with mines, farms and townhouses which, in turn produce gold, iron and food. This in turn allows you to build units of troops, either for defense or offense and as you level up you will then be able to raid or besiege other castles for some big rewards. It is free to play and that is what I recommend although you can put real money into it, it is not necessary and  I don’t recommend doing this, as everything can be got playing for free, it just takes a little longer.

This game is not for everyone and if you don’t have patience and/or the time for a good strategic game then this may not be for you. There is a lot to do in the game but when you hit the higher levels everything takes hours and days instead of minutes to upgrade and so forth. Anyone thinking of giving it a try, I highly recommend it, it’s very easy to start as you have ready made quests to start you off and they are very easy to follow. Once you get the hang of it you will be about level 10, which can be done in a few hours, then you can join a league and enter league chat to get more indepth help from fellow players.

First off you really want to follow the in game quests given to you, this sets you up for later as it really helps you understand how the game works. Second you want to save your saphires, these are quite rare but can be got fairly easy in the beginning, you will be tempted to use them but it’s better to save them for later on when you are at a higher level. Thirdly, upgrade you buildings equally, townhouses, farms and mines, don’t try to upgrade farms first then mines, keep them all at the same level if you can. I personally built my farms, for food, then mines, for iron, then townhouses for the gold, next I leveled each up to level 2 then 3 and so on.

One of the most important things in this game is to be strategic when it comes to battles, you will be raided on occasion and your first reaction will be to retaliate, don’t do this unless you know for sure you can take your enemy. The best approach is when you are about to be raided, and you will get notice of an incoming attack, move all your troops into the catacombs, this way the enemy raiding you will not be able to capture any of your units.  Also when an impending attack is imminent spend all your resources on upgrading, this way the enemy can’t take much and will not bother you again.

Anyway if you haven’t tried any browser based games yet I urge you to give this one a try, you may just enjoy yourself and make some friends along the way. If anyone is interested I will make some more posts about this game and if you have any questions, feel free to post and I’ll try and answer you to the best of my knowledge. Remember it is worth a try and you do get some nice satisfaction from the rewards achieved when playing, a huge game where there is much more to it than you first realize. Good luck and good gaming.

Hi all,

I started playing thief about a week ago and i’m very impressed. It is going to be a fairly hard game to platinum and i’m looking forward to trying to get that.  My initial play time finds me at the end of chapter one and I can’t for the life of me get every piece of loot. Of course i’m pretty determined so i’ll give it another go, and another until I get it, lol.

As far as getting through the game without a knockout or kill, that is going to be interesting, and it’s going to be difficult and i’m really looking forward to it. I find this game even better than my previous favorite, Dishonored, I believe if you can get the platinum for this game then you really are a master thief.

Will post again once I start playing my other two games, Sabotuer and Red Dead Redemption, hope some of you will post and let me know what your playing, happy gaming.

Hi all,

Sorry haven’t been around much but since Christmas and the New Year is behind us i’ve acquired a few new games to play. Although new to me they are fairly old but i’ve been looking forward to playing these for quite a while. First up is Thief, which I have wanted since it first came out last year, well I now have it so i’m really looking forward to playing this one.

Second game is Splinter Cell Blacklist, again not that new but hasn’t been out too long and i’m looking forward to playing that. Apparently it has split screen so you can play with a friend or family member, that will be cool and it is also online so really looking forward to that. Other games I have recently got is Rage, which I played a little of and seems pretty cool and Red Dead Redemption, this one i’m sure will be totally cool and unique. I have always wanted to play a western and this one looks like one of the better ones out there.

Hoping to create a few videos this year too and upload them to youtube. If I can get hold of a decent camera will be making other videos too but i’m definitely going to make some gameplay videos so keep your eye out for those, will post here once I get going on that.

At the moment i’m trying to platinum Bioshock Infinite and have only got a few trophies left to get, have completed 1999 mode but had to play through it again as the trophy didn’t pop for not using any dollar bill machines so hopefully that will pop this time around, I am on the final battle again. Other than those I will have to fly through it again one more time (probably on easy) to collect the last 3 or 4 trophies. I know I have to get the one where you kill five enemies while drunk, and also have to kill so many enemies from a sky-line and that’s about it.

Hope your all having fun playing your new games, let me know what you got for Christmas and feel free to add me as a friend if you play any of the online games that I have, take care :)

Hi all,

The Evil Within is a RPG/survival game which will be on all platforms. It will run at 30fps (which means you’ll get a really good experience), and I have just viewed a couple of trailers.

My initial opinion is that we have been waiting quite a while for a decent scare game to come out. For those of you who are getting a little bored of playing Resident Evil 5/6 this might well be for you.  The graphics are like you would imagine, fantastic and should be a great play for horror fans, like me.

I have only seen a few minute trailer but from that it does look like a cross between Resident Evil games and Silent Hill, with maybe a little Doom type shock moments thrown in.  I want to see more and i’m going to be checking out some of the walkthrough that is now available to view and i’ll comment more when i’ve done that.

What are your thoughts on this one, i’m interested to get some other viewpoints. Happy Gaming.

Hi all,

I know, I know, Skyrim is old now but I did manage to get a copy of the Legendary Edition a couple of months back and at $20 it was a great buy. Many of you have already played and probably completed it but this is one of those games I won’t get bored of playing, I love it.

Unfortunately I haven’t had much chance to play it lately but it’s one of those games i’ll keep hold of, great story, fantastic game play and a ton of stuff to do makes this one of the best games I own.

Talking of keeping hold of certain games, I have around five or six that I would probably never get rid of, games like Skyrim, Borderlands 1 and 2, Godfather 2, Bioshock (all of them) and Dishonored. I would love to add Thief 4 to that little collection.

What games are you keeping hold of and why, which games will you always go back to when your bored? Let me know ok, next time I will be talking about some new releases due out over the next couple of months.

Hi all,

I do apologize for being away for so long but as always I am back. There have been many reasons for me not being here but mainly it’s been due to personal reasons offline. Basically I haven’t played a game in months but there is plenty to talk about, there have been some amazing games released since i’ve been gone and I would like to discuss many of the upcoming releases.

I will be back on a regular basis now, not because i’m playing again but I want to keep the site going, if I can’t get time to play I want to be able to at least talk about gaming and hearing some of your feedback as to what your playing.

My last post was in the draft section and hadn’t been posted so I have posted that, it is the one about Thief 4, which actually turned out to be an awesome game. Sadly I haven’t got to play it yet but I have seen much game play as well as the trailer. I did manage to watch an hour of game play of Thief and really I want to play this game so badly, hopefully I will get the chance very soon.

Ok that’s all for this one, let me know what your up to, what games your playing, are they great or just passing time until the next big release, give me some info guys, lol. Take care.

Shopping In Stoke On Trent For Macbook Air.

If you live in Stoke On Trent, and you are looking to shop for a Macbook Air laptop, finding the right store will not be a problem because there is an Apple store just within the area. That means shopping in Stoke On Trent for Apple gadgets will never have to be a problem.
When talking about the latest gadgets of today, everyone will surely agree that apples products are one of the best. Aside from the fact that the brands name alone speaks about prestige and high class, you can never deny the fact that the apple exemplifies only the highest quality of gadgets when it comes to the functionality, security, and unique features. A list of stores can be found on shopping monkey.

Some of the latest and popular gadgets of Apple will include iPhone, iPod, iPad and the series of amazing laptops.

Speaking about Mac laptops, one of the most popular among the many models they have is the Mac Book Air. Not so many are familiar with what a Mac Book Air, and if it is really worth buying considering the price. If you are one of those people who are quite skeptical about the functions and salient features of this laptop, below are some of the pros and cons that you may want to look into, in order to make a better decision before buying.

Pros when buying a Mac Book Air

Intel makes the processor of a Mac Book Air. It is powered by a core 2 duo 1.6 Ghz processor, which is what you just need in order to work on your computer without the risk of overheating even if you come close to battery empty. The physical body of the Mac Book Air is also compact and very sleek in design because its lightweight and easy to carry. It comes with an LED screen that is 13 inches in size. The design of the Mac Book Air is perfect to those who are always on go, since handling is a breeze. You also do not have to worry about the speed of the Mac Book Air, since it connects easily to wifi and transfer as much as 4 mbps in a swift. Furthermore, you will still have Apples OS leopard in your Mac Book Air, just like with other models for laptop that Apple has.

Cons when buying a Mac Boor Air

Mac Book Air might not be for everybody. If you are the type of laptop user who needs a lot of ports, then this laptop is not for you. It is only equipped with three types of ports (USB, Micro DVI and for a headphone). Another thing that you may want to consider when using this laptop is the battery life. It can only run for a maximum of 3 hours with minimal usage. Batteries are also not replaceable, so you will have to make sure of bringing your charger in case you need to work beyond 3 hours.

These are the different information you may want to consider before buying a Mac Book Air. Knowing this will let you decide if this laptop is the one that you need and one that will work for you.
By the way, if you are planning to go shopping in Stoke On Trent for Apple gadgets, the Apple store in the area is not the only place to go to. You can also check out the different shopping centers around, offering gadgets and computers authorized by Apple.

Hi all,

Started playing Borderlands 2, thanks to playstation+, as it’s a free download, yes the full game, and it’s way better than the first one. More quests, better storyline, more weapons, more enemies and even bigger, very cool.  While i’m playing this one, if anyone wants to join me in storyline or sidequests, feel free to contact me. Also if any of you need help on any quests then again feel free to invite me to your session, my online ID is RPG_Reviewer, i’m level 22 and playing as the assassin.

I believe i’m about half way through the story but as it gets more difficult then I go back to clear up all the past sidequests, then continue. I’m also trying to get the platinum trophy for this one so am trying to complete everything if that’s any help to any of you who want to join me.  That’s about it for now, see you on the battlefield, lol.

Hi all,

I’ve recently been playing games that are free with the playstation plus membership, as you recall from my previous post one such game is the great Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen but my latest game is a racing game which is very good fun, Grid 2. I’ve got around 50% of the trophies for it and they are pretty easy ones, there is also some racing online which i’ve been playing, again very good fun, especially the demolition pack that you also get free.  All in all this last 3 months of PS+ has been more than worth it and on top of that they have just given us Borderlands 2, another great game.

If anyone has Grid 2 and is currently playing it or in need of some help I will have it for another 3 or 4 days so feel free to join me or send a friend request and i’ll accept you and help you out.
